Cox, Time Warner still at impasse on Laker telecasts

The L.A. Times just published an update on the Los Angeles Lakers’ television situation, saying Cox and Time Warner are still at an impasse just one week before the regular season begins.

As it stands today, Santa Barbara residents with Cox Cable – the most common cable provider in the area – will not be able to watch Laker games on TV once the regular season starts next Tuesday night.

The stalemate between Time Warner, who owns the rights to the Laker telecasts, and Cox has already cost local basketball fans the opportunity to watch preseason Laker games.

Santa Barbara residents aren’t the only ones affected, as Cox has 1.2 million subscribers throughout California. Time Warner has not reached a deal with DirecTV or Dish Network either.
