Kian Chachi continued his hot play with a goal in each half on Tuesday, sparking SBCC to a 2-1 men’s soccer victory over Canyons in Santa Clarita.
The defending WSC champion Vaqueros (7-5-2, 5-3-2) are 4-0-1 in their last five games and have scored 16 goals.
Chachi, a freshman from Glendale, has five goals in his last two games and leads the team with seven goals. He scored from close range in the 19th minute after a long kick by goalie Ismael Guzman and an inside pass from Chijioke Aranotu.
Canyons (2-7-5, 1-5-4) tied it in the 41st minute.
Three minutes into the second half, Adam Colton dribbled in and delivered a great pass to Chachi, who found the top corner from 25 yards. The Vaqueros outshot the Cougars 14-10.
“We defended well and we’re happy to come away with three points,” said coach John Sisterson.
Sammba Sowe was sent off in the 85th minute with his second yellow card and will have to sit out the next match.
The Vaqueros travel to first-place Oxnard on Friday at 4 p.m.
