Bishop Diego retained the title of undefeated and then some by demolishing the Eagles 49-7 on Friday night at Oak Park.
The Cardinals improve to 8-0 on the season ahead of a Tri-Valley League showdown with also undefeated Nordhoff next week. The two teams meet on Saturday night at Santa Barbara City College.
Bishop Diego led 28-0 at halftime against Oak Park, which lost to Nordhoff 20-12 last week.
Justin Brosnan and Abel Gonzalez scored first quarter rushing touchdowns as the Cardinals took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Oak Park cut the lead in half by capitalizing on a Cardinal turnover that gave the Eagles a first down on the Bishop Diego 29-yard line.
But after Oak Park’s lone touchdown, Bj Murillo returned the kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown and the Cardinals never looked back.
Anthony Carter found the endzone three times for Bishop Diego. The first was a 28-yard run, followed by a 47-yard pass, and capped off by a 68-yard punt return.
