The UCSB Gauchos ran in full force at the CSU Northridge Invitational this weekend. The Gauchos posted many top ten finishes, making their mark against the other five competing teams.
Freshman Adam Avila bolted into third place in 5:09.3 in the men’s 8K, while classmate Maxine Goyette made an impressive second place finish in 5:53.0 in the women’s 5K.
For the women, freshman Ali Palmer and senior Ashley Beechan finished closely behind Goyette in third and fourth place in times of 5:53.7 and 5:54.8, respectively. Sophomore Harper Cooksley made it into the top ten with an eighth place finish in 6:00.1.
On the men’s side, sophomore Andrew Farkas followed Avila, running into fifth place in 5:11.3. Freshman Abel Mogesse ran a 5:13.5, finishing eighth.
UC Santa Barbara’s Austin Goodheart, Bradfortd Littooy, Alec Dominguez and Shyan Vaziri finished together in 21st through 24th place posting times of 5:23.2, 5:23.4, 5:23.6 and 5:24.7 respectively.
Freshman Jessy Hansen took 15th place in a time of 6:05.6.
The Gauchos will return to competition on October 19th at the Fullerton Invitational
