Westmont suffered a 3-0 GSAC men’s soccer loss at the hands of San Diego Christian on Saturday afternoon in El Cajon.
Playing in triple-digit heat, the Warriors could not match the Hawks offensive production, despite taking an equal number of shots.
The Hawks scored in the 28th minute when Andrew Robles’ cross from the right side of the field deflected off a Westmont defender to Frankie Zimmerman who then recorded the only goal of the first half.
San Diego Christian’s Emmanuel Onywera scored twice in the second half to secure the Hawks’ win. In the fifty-sixth minute, Onywera received a pass from Brent Oglesby that he was able to put in the net. Then in the eighty-first minute, Onywera retrieved a rebound from his own shot for his second goal of the day.
With the loss, the Warriors fall to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. San Diego Christian improves to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in conference games.
Each team took 13 shots, however the Hawks placed seven on goal while the Warriors had just four on target. Westmont held a 7-1 corner kick advantage but was unable to convert the set-play opportunities into scores.
The Warriors return to Russ Carr Field on Tuesday for a three o’clock game against Hope International (6-4. 0-2 GSAC).
