Warriors bust out for 51 in rout of Nipomo

It was the second quarter already, and Carpinteria’s football team trailed Nipomo 12-3 on Friday night. That’s when when something snapped for the Warriors.

The Warriors scored their first touchdown on a 33-yard dash by Jon Esqueda with 3:20 remaining in the first half. Little more than a quarter later, the Warriors had scored 48-straight points on their way to a 51-12 non-league win over the Titans.

Peter Ramos rushed for four touchdowns while the Carpinteria defense and special teams produced two touchdowns. Paul Cortez took a punt back 62 yards and George Arroyo returned an interception 38 yards for a score.

Ramos finished with 113 yards on 15 carries.

It’s the Warriors’ first win of the season after two close losses to start the season. Carpinteria (1-2) moves on the play Santa Ynez (0-3) next week.
