Santa Barbara High’s girls tennis team finished third out of 124 teams at the California High School Girls Tennis Classic in Fresno on Saturday.
The Dons, the defending CIF-SS Division 2 champions, lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Monta Vista of the Bay Area 4-3.
“Three of the matches were decided by tiebreakers,” said coach Steve Geremia.
No. 1 player Summer Garrison went undefeated in singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Madison Hale and Megan Grant also went unbeaten in the two-day tournament. Karina Thornton-Lisa Santry and Kaitlyn Rodnick-Kelli Martindale posted 3-1 records.
“Our doubles played really well,” said Geremia.
In singles, Mattea Kilstofte and Lexi Guilden each went 3-1.
