San Marcos finished fourth at the Royal Tournament in Simi Valley on Saturday.
The Royals advanced to the gold bracket and beat Louisville in the first round of the playoffs, 25-17. In the semifinals, they fell to Redlands, 25-19.
San Marcos got a rematch with Ventura in the third-place match and lost a close game, 25-23. The Royals were beaten by the Cougars in Channel League play on Thursday night.
In pool play, San Marcos went 2-1, beating Quartz Hill and Arcadia and falling to La Reina.
Andie O’Donnell was named to the all-tournament team.
Coach Erica Downing praised the play of Jenny Swanson and Carly Yarnell.
The Royals return to league play on Tuesday at Santa Barbara.
