Jordan Lund and Renee Handley each went 3-0 in sets to lead San Marcos to a 10-8 non-league girls tennis win over West Ranch on Saturday.
Julia Frohling picked up two big points for the Royals, who evened their record at 4-4.
Alexis Flores and Amber Rowley won the last set of the day to clinch the victory.
“All the other matches were finished and they beat West Ranch’s Hana El-Arabia and Sydney Schwartz to win the match for us,” said coach Alex Sheldon. “If it went to games, we would have lost.”
Saturday’s win came a day after a tough 10-8 loss to San Luis Obispo.
“We’ve talked a lot about competing and finishing matches this week, and I’m really proud of Alexis and Amber stepping up and finishing off their last set, Sheldon said.
“Hopefully, the last two days against good competition have prepared us to take on Dos Pueblos on Tuesday.”
