Stephanie Manson-Hing and Alexis Flores of San Marcos defeated Bullard’s No. 1 doubles team to lift the Royals to a 7-6 victory on sets at the California Tennis Classic in Fresno. The teams tied 3-3 in matches.
In their second match of the day, the Royals were defeated by Carmel 5-1 to finish with a tournament record of 3-2.
I’m happy with how well we competed,” coach Alex Sheldon said. “It was very hot, and we played a lot of tennis against good teams.”
He noted that Renee Handley went 5-0 and lost only one set.
