San Marcos’ girls tennis team opened the Channel League season by defeating Dos Pueblos on Tuesday, taking the Channel League matchup played on the Royals’ courts 12-6.
“Our seniors really set the tone for the match in the first set,” said Royals head coach Alex Sheldon.
San Marcos jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the first round thanks to a tiebreaker win from the senior doubles team of?Stephanie Manson-Hing and Leanne Sturman.
Senior Jordan Lund won her first set 7-5 and finished the day 3-0.
San Marcos also benefited from a sweep by its top doubles team of Alexis Flores and Amber Rowley.
For Dos Pueblos, each singles player and doubles team won a set each.
San Marcos (5-4) can improve to 2-0 in league on Thursday against Ventura.
