L.A. Mission scored a goal with five minutes to play on Tuesday to hand SBCC a 1-0 setback in a WSC men’s soccer game. The contest was played at L.A. Pierce in Woodland Hills because Mission’s field is being renovated.
The Vaqueros (3-5-1, 1-3-1) were blanked for the third straight game. Sammba Sowe, a talented forward from Sweden, was injured in the seventh minute and never returned. Chijioke Aranotu, one of SBCC’s top scorers, has been sidelined for two weeks with an injury.
The Eagles improved to 4-3-1 and 3-1.
“We had one shot on goal the whole game,” said coach John Sisterson. “We never tested the keeper. It’s tough to win when that happens.”
Sisterson singled out the play of midfielder Adam Colton and defender Juan Sanchez.
The Vaqueros will play Citrus in Glendora on Friday at 2 p.m.
