The sun was blazing on Tuesday at Taft College and SBCC’s Brandie Harris was just as hot. The freshman from Dos Pueblos High posted her first collegiate hat trick in a 3-0 women’s soccer victory with temperatures in the high 90s.
Harris has six goals on the year and she’s scored in four straight games. Freshman goalie Brianna Robinson and the defense haven’t given up a goal in 360 minutes for the Vaqueros (4-0), who’ve won all their games on the road.
“Brandie is quick, she’s sharp and has a knack for getting behind the defense,” said coach John Sisterson. “And she finishes her chances.”
Harris staked the Vaqueros to a 2-0 halftime lead with close-range goals in the 20th and 34th minutes. Justina Silva and Courtney Allard provided the assists.
Harris completed the hat trick in the 68th minute with a stellar run from 40 yards. She sliced through the defense, then beat the goalie 1-on-1.
The Vaqueros make their home debut on Friday against Chaffey at 2 p.m.
