SBCC posted its second straight women’s soccer tie on Monday night as Sandy Grimaldo’s first-half goal produced a 1-1 tie with East Los Angeles at Monterey Park.
The Huskies (1-2-2) took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. In the 42nd minute, Sarah Atmajoana won three different 50-50 balls and then set up Grimaldo for her fourth goal of the year. SBCC remained unbeaten at 4-0-2.
“It was a good performance against a solid team,” said coach John Sisterson. “We’ve played a lot of games in a short amount of time. We could have won this game.”
SBCC, ranked No. 10 in the state, has played six times in a 14-day span.
Sisterson said his team had a couple of breakaways in the second half, including a shot by Brandie Harris that bounced off the crossbar.
The Vaqueros rallied to tie a game for the second time in four days. Last Friday, they fell behind Chaffey 2-0 after 15 minutes before storming back to secure a 2-2 tie.
The Vaqueros host City College of San Francisco on Friday at 2 p.m.
