UCSB dropped its second straight Big West volleyball match on Saturday, losing at Long Beach State, 25-19, 25-13, 25-16.
The Gauchos struggled at the net, hitting a meager .052 and collecting only 4.0 blocks. Long Beach State hit .293 and racked up nine blocks.
Junior opposite Katey Thompson had a respectable score line for the Gauchos (7-9, 0-2), posting a match-high 13 kills and a team-high two blocks. Junior outside hitter Leah Sully had a season-low six kills, but managed to record her first service ace in eight matches.
It was the fourth straight loss for UCSB.
Long Beach St. improved its record to 7-6, 2-0. As a team, they hit a solid .293 and racked up nine blocks.
The Gauchos stay on the road next week, traveling to Cal Poly on Saturday.
