The UCSB women placed third and the men took fifth at the Stanford Invitational cross country meet on Saturday
In their first college race, the Gaucho men rounded out the 8K with several solid finishes. Senior Juan Paredes posted a time of 25:08, coming in at 31st place. Seniors Jeremy Acosta and Bhavik Kanzaria followed closely behind Paredes, tying for 36th place in a time of 25:13.
For the women, Junior Dani Moreno ran an impressive 21:05 in the 6K, which earned a ninth place finish. Senior Cassie Brooker edged into 15th place with a time of 21:26. Following Brooker, senior Ariana Selix posted a time of 21:48, finishing in 30th place. Sophomore Christine Cooperstein finished 46th place in 22:01. Junior Jessica Chadwick ran a 22:28 for an 86th place finish and Sarah Shreck came in in 22:30.
On the men’s side, freshman Bryan Guiajaro placed 41st in 25:20. Senior Baxter Frick and freshman Anthony Ortolan topped off the top 50 in 25:26 and 25:28.
