Dos Pueblos rebounded from a first-set loss and swept the next three to defeat Buena in a Channel League-opening volleyball match on Thursday. The scores were 23-25, 25-15 25-22, 25-17.
“When we started passing well we played great,” DP coach Todd Garrett said.
Opposite Marina Boulanger led three Chargers in double figure kills with 15. Natalie Klapp had 11 kills with .457 hitting percentage, and McKenna Goss added 10 kills. Sammi Rhine contribued 9 kills and hit .500.
“Maddy Leiphardt did a good job spreading the ball around,” Garrett said of his setter. He also praised the play of Tala Hishmeh.
Garrett said Buena was scrappy on defense.
“I credit their defense and their libero was fun to watch,” he said.
Dos Pueblos (3-5, 1-0) plays at San Marcos on Tuesday.
