A young Cate girls volleyball team opened the season with a three-set loss to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. The scores were 25-19, 25-13, 25-11.
“We knew St. Bonnie would be tough, that’s why we wanted to play them,” said Cate coach Greg Novak.
Peyton Shelburne led the Rams with six kills, while Cydney Pierce added three and Tamsyn Walker had two blocks.
“We’re a young team,” Novak said “We have no seniors; we’re heavy with freshmen and sophomores. We showed great promise for the season, especially playing against St. Bonaventure.
The Rams next play in the Laguna Blanca Tournament on Saturday.
