San Marcos took home its first victory of the season on Friday night. coming back from Hueneme with a 40-20 non-league win.
There was a lot for San Marcos to be happy about, as Esteban Alfaro rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns in the Royals’ best offensive showing of the season.
In fact, the 40 points is more than the Royals produced in their three previous games combined.
“We wanted the boys to taste victory,” Royals head coach Anthony Linebaugh told the Ventura Star. “We had been working hard.”
The Royals are now 1-3 while Hueneme falls to 0-3.
Alfaro reached 196 yards on 19 carries and scored his first touchdown on a 52-yard dash and his second on another 50-yard scoring play.
The Royals were able to capitalize on the big play throughout the game, including a 55-yard punt return for a TD by Michael Hernandez and a 35-yard touchdown run by Cameron Whitney.
The Royals will be after their second win in a row next week at Channel Islands.
Hueneme must travel to Palm Desert to face Xavier Prep.
