Justin Saul scored in the 86th minute on Friday night, giving SBCC a 1-0 men’s soccer win over Canyons. It was a home game for the Vaqueros (3-3, 1-1) but it was played at Ventura College.
“JJ (Saul) did a great job, smashing it in from 20 yards out,” said coach John Sisterson. “He nearly scored in the 76th minute with a tremendous run and a 30-yard shot. The goalie made a great save.”
Ismael Guzman got his second shutout of the season for the defending WSC champions.
“It was a good performance,” Sisterson added.. “We outplayed them most of the game and could have won by two or three goals.”
The Vaqueros host Oxnard on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
