Sebastian Hoenig dashed past the field and a pair of 15-year-old McDermotts to win Wednesday’s 5k run at Nite Moves with a time of 16 minutes and 51 seconds.
Kirby and Patrick McDermott, both 15 years old and from Seattle, finished in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
Laura Turner won the women’s race in 19:32. It was Turner’s second fastest time of the season, as the regular Nite Moves participant recorded a time of 19:23 on May 26.
A total of 222 runners registered for the 5k run on a warm and sunny evening.
For the 1k ocean swim, 152 participated. Recent Santa Barbara Sports Figure of the Month Chuckie Roth won the ocean swim with a time of 14:24. He was followed closely by second-place finisher and women’s overall winner Adrienne Binder.
Casey Bateman completed the ocean swim in 5th place and continued on to win the aquathon. Bateman’s combined swim/run time of 36:59 was over two minutes better than the rest.
