San Marcos’ girls golf team started its season with a pair of matches on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Royals secured a tight 286-228 victory over Santa Ynez at Alisal River Course.
San Marcos’ Melissa Jewkes and Santa Ynez’s Jenny Andreas were co-medalists and canceled each other out with equal low rounds of 48.
The Royals’ Emily Peterson carded a 51 and Kelsey Gellert a 54 for San Marcos.
On Thursday, the Royals came back to face Arroyo Grande at Cypress Ridge Golf Course. The Eagles posted a very low 239 to San Marcos’ 297.
