Harvard-Westlake got the better of Santa Barbara High’s girls volleyball team in Thursday’s 25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19 non-league decision on the Dons’ home court.
“They are a good team,” credited Dons head coach John Gannon. “They had a couple players coming back and they played pretty well.”
“We couldn’t overcome their size.”
Frankie Lewis recorded a team-high 16 kills while Gannon said Emma Moscari did a great job setting while collecting five kills.
Harvard-Westlake is the No. 8 team in Division 1-A. Santa Barbara received votes in the Division 1-AA poll but sit just outside the top 10.
Santa Barbara finished in second place in the Channel League last season before falling to Mater Dei in the second round of CIF.
The Dons’ next match is on Tuesday at Royal. Their next home match is next Friday versus Santa Margarita.
