The Santa Barbara Foresters won their 11th straight game late on Friday night in Wichita, Kansas, a 4-2 victory over the Casa Grande Cotton Kings at the NBC World Series.
Santa Barbara, now 2-0 at the national tournament, plays again on Sunday against the Hutchinson Monarchs.
Friday’s game was locked in a 2-2 tie going into the ninth inning. Ryan O’Hearn’s bloop single scored Arby Fields from third base in the top of the ninth for the go-ahead run. After then loading the bases, Tyler Pearson was hit by a pitch to force in another run.
Hunter Lemke entered to pitch in the bottom half of the ninth and recorded his Forester franchise-record 14th save.
Albert Minnis was credited with the pitching victory for throwing a scoreless eighth inning.
Through 19 innings of NBC World Series play, Foresters pitchers have given up only two earned runs.
