The men’s semifinalists at the Santa Barbara Tennis Open will have the chance to test each other in both singles and doubles this year, as Adam Webster and Spencer Simon will take on Marco Comuzzo and Andre Dome in this Saturday’s doubles final.
All four reached the men’s open singles semifinals without the partners having to play their teammates.
Sunday also saw Zsuzsanna Fodor’s victory in the women’s final and Thorbjorn Rydeen’s in the men’s Over-50 singles.
Fodor defeated Natalia Lozano 6-0, 6-3 in the women’s final.
In the men’s open quarterfinals, former champion Adam Webster cruised past Raj Vaswani 6-0, 6-1 to earn a matchup with top-seeded Andre Dome.
Dome left Miles Seemann behind in the quarterfinals in a 6-1, 6-2 match. Seeman had taken out the seventh-seeded Leo Basica in the previous round.
Spencer Simon and Marco Comuzzo will meet in the other semifinal this Saturday at the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara.
Simon won his quarterfinal match 6-2, 6-1 over Jack Sanford while Comuzzo pulled a bigger upset than Simon by beating the No. 2 seed in Noah Newman 6-1, 6-4.
The men’s draw began with 36 entrants.
In the doubles, Comuzzo and Dome had to go through No. 1 seed Alexandre Anselmo and Leo Basico, beating them 6-1, 6-3. Simon and Webster also breezed, knocking out Todd D. Dickey and Ricky Echanique 6-2, 6-1.
