UCSB midfielder Erin Ortega and goalkeeper Makenna Henry have been named to the Big West Conference’s Preseason All-Conference Team it was announced on Tuesday.
The Big West also released the preseason coaches poll?for women’s soccer on Tuesday.
The team was voted on by the conference’s coaches and features 12 players, 10 field players and two goalies.
Ortega was second on the Gauchos last year with eight points. The senior scored three goals and recorded two assists in 20 starts. As a sophomore, Henry allowed 1.46 goals against in eight conference games. That was fifth best in the Big West.
Joining Ortega and Henry on the Preseason All-Conference Team is returning Big West Offensive Player of the Year Nadia Link. The senior forward topped the Big West in goals (16), assists (10) and points (42) last season.? She enters the 2012 campaign as the conference?s active career leader with 24 goals and 59 points.? Her 11 career assists is second among current Big West players.
