Goleta Valley South’s District 63 champions
Goleta Valley South’s 11-year-old All-Stars defeated Foothill 10-1 on Thursday to clinch the District 63 Championship.
Vince Vogel pitched 4 1/3 innings, only allowing one run, and added three hits on offense.
Andrew Guardino started the scoring for Goleta Valley in the first inning with a two-out, two-run single that scored Frank Gamberdella and Ryan Rennick. Vogel and Luke Roberts followed with RBI doubles to make the score 4-0.
Gamberdella and Roberts finished with two hits each in the game.
Guardino relieved Vogel in the fifth inning and pitched the final 1 2/3 innings.
Goleta Valley has won nine games in a row in pool play and bracket play. The sectional championship tournament begins on Sunday with a game against either Moorpark or Santa Maria in Saticoy.
