The Santa Barbara Foresters got back on track over the weekend, securing a California Collegiate League sweep over the L.A. Brewers right after getting swept themselves by the first-place San Luis Obispo Blues.
The Foresters won their third straight on Sunday in a 4-2 10-inning decision. Santa Barbara outscored the Brewers 23-9 in the series, adding wins of 7-4 on Saturday and 12-3 on Friday. The series sweep brings Santa Barbara to within one game of the Blues with just one more week remaining in the regular season.
Santa Barbara spread its offense around in the series. Arby Fields and Richard Sanguinetti each drove in a team-high three runs in the three games.
Cody Dickson won the series opener on Friday, Jose Cardona picked up the win in relief on Saturday, and TJ McGreevy pitched two scoreless innings for the win on Sunday.
The Foresters return home to UCSB’s Caesar Uyesaka Stadium on Tuesday at 5 pm for their first of three games against non-league Bakersfield Braves. Santa Barbara then hosts Team Vegas for the final three games of the regular season before heading off to Wichita, Kansas for the National Baseball Congress World Series.
