The Santa Barbara Foresters evened their California Collegiate League record on Wednesday with a 7-2 victory over the MLB Academy Barons.
Robert Vickers’ three-run home run in the ninth inning gave the Foresters (1-1, 2-3) a season-high in runs scored.
The two runs allowed were also a season-low for the pitching staff after five games.
Tom Lemke started for Santa Barbara and tossed five innings, leaving with a 4-1 lead. Lemke allowed just three hits. Michael Kwan, Hunter Lemke and Willie Kuhl combined to close out the Barons. The latter pair was making their Foresters debuts and together the three relievers allowed only two hits and a lone run.
Thursday’s series finale begins at 6 p.m. and can be heard on 1290 AM. The Foresters return home for three games this weekend.
