Two basketball teams from the Santa Barbara Boys & Girls Club took home championships from the weekend’s June Heat Tournament in San Luis Obispo.
Both teams, an 11 & Under squad and a 12 & Under group, went undefeated in the tournament.
Team MVP for the 11 & under division was Aiden Douglas and MVP for the 12 & under division was Kris Ramirez.
“It’s wonderful to win a championship but to have both teams win just sweetens the deal for all of the kids that work so hard, practicing 2 or 3 times a week during their summer break. These kids came out and played hard basketball against teams from the Central Coast,” said Kim Kjar, head coach for the Ballers Program and Athletic Director for the Club. “They go out there and give it their all and that’s all a coach can ask for.”
