Nick Melino and Jacob Felts backed up starting pitcher Thomas Lemke with solo home runs on Tuesday as the Santa Barbara Foresters topped San Luis Obispo 4-1 at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
Melino gave the Foresters a 1-0 lead on his second home run of the season with two outs in the third inning. Felts’ blast, which came in a pinch-hitting situation, made the score 4-0 in the eighth inning.
Lemke pitched five scoreless innings to earn the win. TJ McGreevy took over and held the Rattlers scoreless for another three innings. Dae Yang Kim gave up a solo round-tripper to Trevor Nathanson in the ninth.
Cal Vogelsang, Zach Fish and Joey Gonzales each recorded a pair of hits for Santa Barbara.
The decision improves Santa Barbara’s record to 5-5 on the season. The Foresters close out a six-game homestand with two games against the Southern California Halos. Wednesday’s and Thursday’s games both begin at 5:10 pm.
