Carmen Campi and Catalina Maldonado, representing the semifinalist Carpinteria Warriors, were named All-CIF on Tuesday as part of the Southern Section’s Division-6 team.
Maldonado had a huge season. The junior pitcher finished with a 1.29 era in 26 starts to lead the Warriors to a 21-6-1 record. She averaged more than one strikeout per inning, totaling 188.
Maldonado was equally good at the plate, leading the team with a .480 batting average, 37 runs, 35 RBI and a school-record seven home runs.
Campi, a senior, played third base and batted .478. Campi scored 32 runs and knocked in 15 runs.
Maldonado was already named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Year and Campi the Most Valuable Player. (All-Frontier League)
Citrus Valley’s Ashlyn Morris was named the Division’s Most Valuable Player.
