Colin Hacker, Christian Hesch, Jorge Jabaz and Jordan Horn all cracked the 4-minute barrier on Sunday morning at the annual State Street Mile, with Hacker showing the way in 3 minutes and 55 seconds.
All four men were competing in the Elite Men division on the all-downhill course that starts at Pedregosa Street and finishes at De La Guerra and State Street in downtown Santa Barbara.
Bryan Fernandez, running in the 15-19 age group, and Tim Gore, in the Masters Elite group, were the closest non-Elite Men to four minutes. Fernandez won the 15-19 division in 4:09 and Gore, 42, won the Masters Elite in 4:12.
Tara Erdmann, 22, captured the Elite Women’s title, beating out second-place finisher Justine Diaz with a time of 4:33. Bethany Nickless, Andrea McLarty and Kate Stuart rounded out the top-5 of the women’s elite division. All recorded sub-5-minute times.
