Dos Pueblos used solid defense and timely hitting to beat Saticoy in a District 63 9-10 All-Star pool play game on Saturday in Montalvo.
The win, DP’s third in a row, ensures it entry into the double-elimination tournament that begins July 7.
Evan Steinberger and Anthony Gutierrez pitched three innings apiece, limiting Saticoy to just four hits while striking out 10. J.J. Frausto made several dazzling defensive plays at second base.
After singles by Jackson Stetler and Steinberger, and a walk to Connor Gleissner, Dylan Borgeson doubled home two runs in the second inning. Gutierrez followed with an RBI groundout and Trevor Craig capped the rally with an RBI double. Gutierrez was 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles.
DP next plays Foothill on July 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Montalvo.
