Miles Seemann and Joshua Crisp-Jones, went 3-0 in singles and doubles for SBCC on Thursday and moved into the Round of 16 in both draws of the Southern Cal Regional men’s tennis tourney at Irvine Valley.
All three Vaquero singles players got first-round byes.
Seemann, seeded sixth, downed Lorenzo Baca of San Diego Mesa 6-4, 6-1 in the Round of 32. He’ll take on Rex Miller of Orange Coast on Friday at 8 a.m..
Crisp-Jones,, the No. 8 seed, beat Kevin Nakasone of El Camino 6-1, 6-2. He’ll battle No. 9 Tracy Beblie of Palomar in another 8 a.m. match on Friday.
Sebastian Vestberg fell in the Round of 32 to Atilla Lassu of El Camino 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, Seemann and Crisp-Jones are the No. 5 seed. After a bye, they swept Marcello Rodriguez-Charlie Stephens of Imperial Valley 6-3, 6-2. They’ll face Chris Nguy-Kyle Porter, the No. 12 seed from Cerritos, in the Round of 16 on Friday at 2 p.m.
All players who reach the quarterfinals will earn spots in the State Finals on May 10-12 at the Balboa Tennis Club in San Diego.
