Cecilia Instebo and Zoe Davis of SBCC both placed seventh on Saturday in the Southern Cal Track & Field Finals at San Diego Mesa to earn spots in the State Championships.
Instebo lowered her PR in the 3000 Steeplechase by 14 seconds with an 11:34 clocking. Davis threw the shot put 11.94 meters for her seventh-place finish. The top eight advanced to the State meet, which will take place on May 18-19 at Cerritos College.
Four other SBCC athletes failed to qualify, including 400 hurdler Tristan Lake and 800 and 1500 runner Matt Bailey, who suffered a minor injury during training.
