San Marcos’ Abhi Sarkar-Frandsen finished first in the 50 yard freestyle race and third in the 100 yard freestyle at the Channel League prelims on Wednesday.
Sarkar-Frandsen’s finishes will earn him a spot in the finals on Thursday at Buena.
“We are looking forward to a great day tomorrow,” head coach Jeff Ashton said.
Jason Phreaner also had an impressive day for the Royals, shattering his personal-best time in the 500 yard freestlye by eight seconds, which qualfied him for the consolation finals.
James Sweeney and Sean Willhite also qualified for the consolation finals in the 100 yard backstroke and 100 yard breast stroke, respectively.
