Cate’s Austin Lokre and Abhay Singh won the Condor League doubles title on Monday by winning a round-robin tournament with teams from Dunn and Laguna Blanca.
Lokre and Singh advance to play in the CIF Individual Regional Tournament on May 18.
Cate’s Blake Mackall had previously won the league’s singles title by virtue of an undefeated league season.
Laguna Blanca’s Ben Furukawa claimed the other CIF singles spot by going 4-0 on the day. Teammate Benji Sorensen went 3-1.
The Owls also advanced the doubles team of Alex Greer and Tristan Prinz.
Cate’s Brendon Lokre and Parker Gribb came close to qualifying but fell in a tiebreaker in their deciding match.
“I knew our team was better than our 4-8 record suggests, and today we really proved it,” said Laguna Blanca head coach Trevor Thorpe. “We are peaking a few weeks too late to qualify the team for playoffs this year, but we’ve definitely got some confidence going into CIF Individuals and next tennis season.”
