Harris’ near-perfect day gives Chargers at least a share of Channel League title

Hannah Harris had a perfect game going through six innings on Tuesday, and the Dos Pueblos softball team will be co-Channel League champions at the very least when the regular season is over, after a 1-0 road win over Buena.

Hannah Harris threw eight strikeouts and gave up just one hit. Her only walk was intentional. Buena’s leadoff hitter Leanna Geroges singled in the seventh to stop Harris’ perfect game.

The Chargers’ only run came in the top of the first. Harris singled and advanced to second on an error. Maddison Buie came in as a pinch runner and was pushed to third on a sacrifice by Kai Uyesaka.

Chloe Madill then came up and knocked a base hit to bring Buie home.

Dos Pueblos (22-3 overall, 10-1 CL) will face Buena again at home on Thursday in the biggest game of the year for the Chargers. The team will honor Harris and Courtney Linhares for Senior Day and a victory will give them sole ownership of the Channel League title.
