SBCC’s Matt Winslow and Jordon Dyer have been selected first-team All-Western State Conference in men’s volleyball.
Winslow, a 6-5 freshman from Clovis, was second in the WSC in kills (189) and third in kills per game (3.50). Dyer, a sophomore setter from Dos Pueblos High, was third in the conference with 9.5 assists per game.
Sophomore opposite Cody Kreitzer and freshman middle hitter Chris Utroske were second-team choices. Kreitzer was second on the team with 108 kills and 10th in the conference in kill average (2.6 per game). Utroske was seventh in hitting percentage (.345) and led the Vaqueros in blocks with 67.
Santa Barbara went 1-4 in its first four conference matches (with four of five on the road), then finished strong, going 4-1 in the last five. The only loss came in the season finale, a 3-1 decision to eventual state champion Long Beach.
The Vaqueros finished 10-7 overall and 5-5 in conference, one game out of a playoff spot.
