Zach Torres’ two-run single in the sixth inning was Santa Barbara High’s biggest blow in a 6-2 Channel League win over Ventura on Thursday.
Torres’ single was one of only two hits for the Dons, who scored their runs using mostly walks and errors.
Kenny Crawford pitched a complete game for Santa Barbara and improved to 5-2 on the season. Crawford struck out six without walking a batter.
Crawford was also responsible for the Dons’ other hit.
Ventura took a 2-0 lead in the second inning but Santa Barbara came back to win with four runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Kees t’Sas and Johnny Brontsema scored twice for Santa Barbara.
The decision makes Santa Barbara 5-7 in Channel League play while Ventura falls to 5-5. The Dons, who finished their regular season schedule, are 15-10 overall.
