The Santa Barbara High volleyball team’s perfect Channel League season was in serious jeopardy on Wednesday, as it faced a 2-0 deficit to Ventura, but the Dons rallied and won the match in five sets.
The game scores were 22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 and 15-6.
“We were albe to pull it out and show why we are Channel Leauge champs,” coach Chad Arneson said.
Holden Ploch led the team with 20 kills while Sam Cohen added 13 more. Gavin Trudeau orchestrated the offense and finished the match with 58 assists.
Senior Tim Cronshaw provided a badly needed spark off the bench for the Dons with excellent service and he finished with four aces.
Santa Barbara finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record in the Channel League and an overall record of 18-7.
The Dons will find out their CIF Division I draw on Saturday and will likely have a first round bye.
