San Marcos’ Dasha Depew swam the 200 yard freestyle in 1:56.61 at the CIF Division I prelims at Riverside Community College on Thursday. The time placed her 24th at the competition.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team placed 34th as three of the four members swam the race in personal best times.
The successful showing was a bittersweet moment for the Royals, as senior Ashely Wagner competed for the last time.
“She has been an inspiration to all her teammates. She has been a great leader and will be missed. As a coach I am very proud of who Ashley is. She has overcome obstacles and continues to impress me,” head coach Chuckie Roth said.
