Cassie Davis’ sixth-inning home run gave Dos Pueblos’ softball team a 3-2 victory on Thursday that gave the Chargers the Channel League title outright.
Davis made sure her winning hit stood up by throwing out a runner at home plate to preserve the win. Catcher Haley Peterson made the catch and applied the tag.
Veronika Gulvin was 3-for-3 at the plate. The freshman’s first hit scored Chloe Madill in the first inning, soon after Madill knocked in Maddison Buie.
Hannah Harris won her 21st game of the season by allowing two runs and striking out seven in seven innings.
Dos Pueblos is 23-3 overall and 11-1 in league play. The No. 3 ranked team in Division 4 doesn’t play again until the postseason. Playoff brackets are released on May 14.
