SBCC’s Zoe Davis took eighth in the women’s shot put at the 59th California State Championships on Saturday with a throw of 39-4 1/2 inches at Cerritos College in Norwalk. It was the third-best mark in school history for the freshman, who holds the school record at 39-9 3/4.
In the men’s 1500, Matt Bailey was ninth in a time of 3:57.68. Bailey was running with an injury he suffered several weeks ago.
Cecilia Instebo had to drop out of the women’s 3000 steeplechase after five laps due to an injury.
“It’s a great accomplishment for these three athletes to make the State Meet, particularly because they had to qualify from the South,” said coach Scott Fickerson.
