Janelle Nguyen qualified for the finals in the 500 free at the CIF Division 1 swimming prelims at the Riverside Community Swim Complex on Thursday.
Nguyen clocked 4:56.23 to reach Saturday’s finals. She’ll also be swimming in three events in the consolation finals: the 100 butterfly, medley relay and 4×100 free relay. Nguyen finished 10th in the 100 fly prelims with a time of 57.31.
The Dos Pueblos boys swim team received several impressive performances.
Alex Valente finished fourth overall in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.99 seconds while Blake Parrish took sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke in 57.96 seconds.
Also in the individual events, Nic Lum placed 12th in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.83.
In the relay events the Chargers took 20th in both the 200 yard relay (1:29.40) and the 400 yard relay (3:15.94).
All of these times were good enough to qualify for the consolation finals which will be held on Saturday at Riverside Community College.
