The Cate School boys tennis team jumped on Lompoc and cruised to a 14-4 victory in the opening round of the CIF Division 4 playoffs.
“Every member of the team demonstrated focused composure and competitive spirit through the the entire match,” coach Robert Bonning said.
The Rams led 6-0 after the first round of play and won eight of the nine doubles matches.
In the singles play, Blake Mackall finished at a perfect 3-0, while Parker Gribb came in as a substitute and picked up a win in his first ever match for the Rams.
Cate (10-4) will continue their postseason run against the winner of Silverado and Sultana at a location still to be determined.
