The Bishop Diego High baseball team knew that a win against Santa Paula would clinch the Frontier League title, and the team made sure the result was never in doubt, winning 20-3.
“It was a great team win. Everyone played their part and I’m real happy for the guys,” coach Kai Solin said about winning the title.
Aidan Williams pitched all seven inning for the Cardinals to earn his fourth win of the season.
“It took him a little while today to find his rhythm,” Solin aid. “After the third, he really settled down. He found the strike zone and was really effective.”
Williams helped his own cause with an excellent day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
He was not the only one providing run support and several Cardinals had great days at the plate.
Scott Mandrell reached base on all five of his at-bats, going 3-3 with three runs scored. John Salda went 2-3 with two RBIs and finally, Reese Moulton went 2-3 with a three-run homer in the sixth inning to finish with four total RBIs.
Bishop Diego (15-3 overall, 8-1 FL), who is ranked third in CIF Division 6, will play Santa Paula again on Friday at home.
