Runs have been hard to come by for Dos Pueblos’ baseball team this week as the Chargers scored just one run for the second game in a row in a 5-1 loss to Buena on Thursday.
The Chargers scored just one run on Tuesday but won 1-0 to clinch at least a share of the Channel League title. A win on Wednesday against San Marcos or a Buena loss to Ventura will give Dos Pueblos the title outright.
Buena’s Charlie Brooks kept the Bulldogs in the hunt by pitching a complete game for his fifth win of the season.
The game was tied 1-1 from the second inning until the fifth, when Buena scored twice. The Bulldogs added two more in the bottom of the sixth.
Dos Pueblos’ Anthony Spiritosanto drove in Joe Huthsing in the second inning for DP’s lone run. Huthsing finished 3-for-3.
