Buckley won the close sets to gain the advantage in Tuesday’s CIF Division 4 quarterfinal match with Cate, which ended in a 13-5 decision.
Blake Mackall swept his three sets in singles for Cate, which got one more point in singles from Austin Lokre.
Abhay Singh and Brendan Lokre teamed to win Cate’s only set in doubles. Their losses were by scores of 6-4 and 7-5. Bill Pomerans/Jack Hoover and Thys Northup/Michael Revord were on the wrong end of several close sets.
Cate finishes its season with an 11-5 record. The Rams won the Condor League this year and won two playoff matches over Lompoc and Silverado.
